Annual documentation since 2007
the journey book
The Journey Book is an annual publication produced by the Dubai Media Office documenting the official activities and leadership journey of Dubai’s ruling family throughout the year.
The publication serves as a structured historical record, capturing governance, public engagement, and national priorities through curated photography and editorial storytelling. The Journey Book reflects a long-term institutional approach to documentation and continuity.
Continuity
Produced annually over successive years, the Journey Book reflects a consistent approach to documenting leadership activity as it unfolds over time. Together, the editions form a cumulative record that traces Dubai’s evolving priorities, milestones, and moments of public engagement across different periods.
Publication Format
Over time, the project has evolved into a complete publication package, bringing together the book alongside supporting materials such as notebooks, pens, and desk items.
This format allows the documented content to exist as a cohesive physical set that can be shared and engaged with beyond the book itself.
Editorial content
Through a considered combination of photography, layout, and commissioned divider artwork, the publication presents leadership activity within local, regional, and international contexts. Content is organised to reflect the rhythm of the year, documenting governance, public interaction, and key initiatives as part of a continuous civic narrative.
Divider artwork is commissioned from Emirati artists.
Extended Visual Assets
In recent editions, selected visual elements from the publication have been adapted for mobile formats, allowing aspects of the artwork to extend beyond print while remaining grounded in the original editorial material.
